The Complementary Health Practice follows the tradition of Complementary Medicine which encourages patients to take responsibility for their own health. Through a process of safe and natural therapy, patients are guided in ways which will bring balance and harmony back into every level of daily life.

Complementary medicine treats the whole person and not just the symptoms, looking at all dimensions of a patient's life to ascertain the underlying reasons for imbalance.

From time to time Practitioners will offer workshops, talks and informal sessions about ways in which you can care more effectively for yourself and look at your own personal development.

All Practitioners are fully qualified in their own therapy, are fully insured and have been in practice for at least two years. Each Practitioner is affiliated to their relevant Governing Body and practice according to the highest professional standards in accordance with the Codes of Practice and Ethics of the said Governing Body.

Most Practitioners are willing to negotiate fees in cases of hardship.

You are invited to visit us at Mayfair Community Centre where you will find further information and handouts about individual Practitioners and their own particular therapy.

The Community Centre reception is open Monday to Friday from 1O.OOam until 5.00pm

Practitioner appointments may exceed these times. There is a pay and display car park opposite the Centre.

Aqua Detox

A safe and relaxing foot bath which uses gentle electro-stimulation to re-charge the cells of the body which leads to detoxification and a more efficient processing of waste through the body.

Acupuncture

Acupuncture is an ancient system of healing that restores and maintains health by the insertion of fine needles into acupuncture points just beneath the body surface. It is extremely effective in a wide  variety of conditions through its power to stimulate the mind and body's own healing response.

Aromatherapy

Aromatherapy is the use of organic essences of aromatic plants for healing and the maintenance of vitality. Each essential oil has its own unique healing properties and fragrance and can be of benefit both physically and emotionally.

Bowen Technique

The Bowen Technique is a gentle holistic hands-on treatment. It consists of a sequence of very precise moves over muscles and soft tissue, interspersed with periods of rest to allow the treatment to be absorbed. A Bowen treatment affects the body in ways which promote healing and pain relief.

Chiropody

Most babies are born with almost perfect feet, however, with 26 bones in the human foot and the stresses of everyday life, it is inevitable that problems can occur. Our Chiropodist has 20 years of experience.

Counselling & Psychotherapy

Through a skilled process of listening and responding, counselling can help people to begin to talk about and explore difficult and sometimes painful issues in a confidential, non-judgemental and supportive environment. Counselling can empower people and help them to find their own solutions.

Healing

Natural Healing is a basic human quality which we all possess and use, although we are not always aware of it. The Healer can act as a channel for natural energy, which can reach the person receiving it on all three dimensional levels; body, mind and spirit. While providing support, this can awaken the person to how to bring about their own healing.

Health Kinesiology

Muscle testing is used to re-balance the flow of energy in the body. Muscle testing gives us information from the body which ensures that the programme generated is the most appropriate for the client. This can also be used for  allergy  testing.

Indian Head Massage

Indian Head Massage is a gentle but firm application of pressure with fingertips, fingers, palms and hands to the head, neck, face and shoulder area of the client. It helps to balance the physical body, the emotions and the mind and assists the body in releasing stress and tension.

Nutrition

Poor digestion, allergies, toxic overload, deficiencies and bad eating habits can all contribute to the origin of illness. A Nutritionist and Naturopath is able to tell you what foods to eat and what foods to avoid to achieve maximum well-being.

Reflexology

Reflexology is the application of gentle pressure to areas of the feet (and hands). Congestion or tension in any part of the feet may indicate an imbalance in a related part of the body. Treating the feet, therefore, can have a relaxing and healing effect on the whole body by unblocking vital energy pathways and restoring the free flow of energy and nutrients to the body's organs.

Reiki

Traditional Usui Shiki Ryoho Rieki is translated as 'universal life energy' . This universal  energy is used in a gentle but powerful form of therapeutic touch. Rieki helps to rebalance the body and relieve the stresses that we all store up in our lives. The practitioner places their hands on the client, gradually working across the head, body and back.

Remedial therapeutic Massage

Massage has the ability to bring its recipient relief from a wide range of ailments. Taut, painful muscles can be loosened and relaxed and the circulation of the blood and lymph stimulated, helping to expel toxins from the body and bringing greater freedom to the muscles and joints. Massage helps to put a person back 'in touch' with their body  therefore helping to combat chronic patterns of stress and tension.

Shiatsu

Shiatsu is a Japanese healing art which literally translated means finger pressure. The practitioner uses his/her own fingers, palms, elbows, knees and feet to press along meridian lines [channels of living energy] on the body. Shiatsu is primarily a preventative medicine which helps to maintain an individual's health, vitality and stamina.
