The Day Care Unit is part of the Community Centre.

The Centre's many facilities provide support and information for service user's families and carers.

What is the aim of the Mayfair Daycare Unit?

The aim of the Mayfair Day Care Unit is to provide a high standard of care in a homely environment, allowing service users to maintain their dignity and privacy.

The care provision

Care is provided by qualified and, experienced staff and can be for the whole day (10:00am-4 pm) or for just a few hours . The level of care required is assessed on an individual basis, allowing a flexible approach to both the service user's and the carer's needs, maintaining and promoting independence at all times.

What's on offer for users of the Unit?

There is rarely a dull moment in the day care unit. A full activity programme is available designed to suit all needs and interests and involving small and large groups.

The unit has facilities for bathing in the 'Parker' bath.

    A laundry service
    is also available.

People coming to daycare may also use other  facilities within the building, for example, attend an exercise class or a support group.

Lunch can be provided and drinks are available throughout the day . Service users may prefer to meet up with family or friends and eat in the main dining room. Special diets are catered for.

Throughout the year trips and outings take place using a fully accessible coach.. A highlight of the year is our Day Care Unit holiday when we go to a purpose-built hotel so that both cared-for, carers and people living alone can enjoy a fun-packed week with fully-trained carers on hand to assist them as necessary. Several shorter trips are also available to suit service users needs

What's in it for the carers?

Carers are able to take a well-earned break, knowing that their partner or family member is supported and well looked after. In addition, time can be set aside for carers to talk about their anxieties, welfare benefits or to ask for any information that might help them to maintain the care they require and discuss any changes that need to be made to help both service users and carers.

The local carers’ group will meet at Mayfair on the first and third Wednesday ot the month from 2 - 4pm
