What are the benefits of volunteering?
They
include:-
Why become a Mayfair volunteer ?
We need volunteers because they are the backbone of
Mayfair. Although we have 30 paid staff we are dependent
on volunteers. It is our volunteers who create the
Mayfair family that is now talked about
throughout the County and beyond.
What volunteering
opportunities are there?
Volunteering opportunities include:-
befriending
young people (under supervision).*
helping
youngsters with homework.*
helping to
cater for our many clients/customers.
acting as a
receptionist/host(ess).
helping in
our Day Care Unit (Games, conversations,
socialising, making drinks).
providing
transport.
helping with
clerical work.
helping in
the IT suite.
DIY within
the Centre.
gardening in
the Mayfair garden.
helping in
the creche (the creche is run by trained staff).
providing
arts & crafts skills.
(* all volunteers
working with young people will be required to undergo a
police check.)
If you have a particular skill you can offer, we are sure
to be able to use it!
I've never done
voluntary work before
Our Volunteers Coordinator will provide advice and
continuing support for all new Mayfair volunteers.
We have arranged insurance cover for all volunteers
working at Mayfair. Expenses can be reimbursed. Training
will be offered where appropriate.
I have young
children to care for
No problem! Mayfair has its own creche. So, if you have
young children to care for, they can be looked after for
you by trained staff whilst you spend time on your
voluntary activity .
I'm interested,
what do I do next?
If you would like to know more, without commitment,
please ring and ask to speak to the Volunteer Coordinator.
