Covid policy update

Mayfair has been reviewing its operations and safety measures in light of the spread of the Omicron variant. With due consideration of government guidelines and advice from local care agencies, we have been renewing our risk assessments and will continue to do so. We have a dual responsibility, both to operate in as safe as way as possible, and to continue to provide support and services for local people. We are very aware of the effects of isolation and anxiety on mental health, and we need to keep offering support and opportunities for social interaction where we can.

We will continue to operate safety measures as before, including regular testing, reminding all those entering our buildings to wear masks until seated, sanitising on entry and social distancing.

The Omicron variant has been shown to be more transmissible, as its rapid spread has demonstrated. While taking all the above precautions some centre users and activity leaders may not feel comfortable coming in at this time. It is important that everyone makes their own decisions about what level of activity and exposure they feel comfortable with.

We will continue to plan and to advertise activities and events where sensible. However, we may on occasion or as guidelines change, have to cancel or postpone some things. We’re expecting to experience some staff and volunteer absences, as people are required to isolate, and while we will be trying to ensure a consistent service, this may not always be possible.

We thank you for your consideration and kindness. Any questions or concerns should be directed towards Cathy Thomas, our Central Services Manager at cathy.thomas@mayfaircentre.org.uk

Where do you stand on the scale? If you are isolating or would prefer to stay away from other people, Mayfair can support you through delivering prescriptions or by arranging calls from telephone befrienders. If you are looking for a gentle stepping-stone back to sociability in controlled, hygienic surroundings, try our Tuesday Friendship Group (by referral through our MAYSI service) or book a table at our Lunch Club. If you feel you need more activity or social contact, we are continuing to offer a range of exercise classes and activities – get in touch to find out more.
