Whatever your age, background, motivation or experience, there is likely to be a volunteer role at Mayfair suited to you. We do a lot to support the Strettons community and that means lot of different ways you could help.
You could be a:
These are some of the main areas seeking volunteers at the moment, but it’s not an exhaustive list. If you’d like to volunteer and don’t see an opportunity that excites you, get in touch anyway – we may have just the role for you.
Our Ring & Ride service is an invaluable local support, giving those without easy access to transport a way to get around and maintain their independence.
We’re currently looking for more volunteer drivers. You don’t have to be full of expert local knowledge, in fact, this is a great way to get to know the area. If you’re a confident driver and happy to get behind the wheel of a minibus and give a few hours of your time each week, we’d love to hear from you.
Do you have a keen interest in food and great customer service? We are looking for enthusiastic volunteers to join our catering team across our Mayfair kitchen and Coffee Shop. Whether you can make a weekly commitment, or are able to help on a relief basis, we would love to hear from you. Specifically…
VOLUNTEER ASSISTANT COOK – A busy role supporting our cooks with the preparation of meals. Various shifts available, full training given.
WAITING on VOLUNTEERS – Friendly and helpful volunteers required to serve hot lunches, 2–3hr shifts, full training given.
VOLUNTEER BAKER – Home-based or working in the Mayfair kitchen to bake and supply delicious cakes to our Coffee Shop. Experience required.
COFFEE SHOP VOLUNTEERS – Working alongside our cook to serve cakes and refreshments, various shifts available, full training given.
We are looking for volunteers to offer friendship and support to local people.
CoCo takes its name from ‘compassionate communities’ and is a befriending scheme for anyone who’s finding it hard to reach out and get the help or social contact they need.
CoCo volunteers are carefully matched with people with similar interests. Friendship and companionship are the priority of the scheme, but volunteers may also help in a variety of ways. They might assist someone with shopping, give respite to a carer, help sort out bills and paperwork, join someone for a walk or an outing, or simply sit and chat over a cup of tea.
We hold regular CoCo volunteer inductions throughout the year.
We need energetic, inspiring volunteers to work alongside experienced youth workers.
From November, we will be creating a relaxed and inviting space for local 13–16-year-olds to meet up, outside of school hours. We are now looking for volunteers who can spare a couple of hours per week. Maybe you are looking at gaining experience in youth work, are interested in supporting young people, or want to be a part of the growing youth provision in Church Stretton. Whatever your experience, we would love to hear from you. In return, we will provide full training and ongoing support.
If you’re interested in any of the roles listed above, contact Kate Slater, Mayfair’s Volunteer Coordinator on 01694 722077 or at firstname.lastname@example.org
